KATHY GRIFFIN, CHAKA KHAN, JOAN JETT TO HEADLINE MILWAUKEE'S PRIDEFEST

MILWAUKEE, WI Ĩ PrideFest will kick off Milwaukee's lakefront festival season June 8, 9 & 10th with over 60 performances, featuring headline acts Kathy Griffin, Chaka Khan and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts at Maier Festival Park. The event will mark 20 years of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Pride events in Milwaukee.

"PrideFest stands out for consistently presenting one of the nation's biggest and best Pride entertainment lineups, all in celebration of LGBT culture and community," said Paul Williams, PrideFest Communications Director.

99.1 WMYX welcomes comedian Kathy Griffin to PrideFest's Miller Lite Main Stage on Friday, June 8th. Griffin is best known for her Emmy-nominated work on the Bravo reality show, "My Life on the D-List" and her four years as Brooke Shield's acerbic colleague on the NBC sitcom, "Suddenly Susan." She has also been a three-time host of "The Billboard Music Awards" and had many scene-stealing appearances on "Seinfeld" (as Jerry's foil, Sally Weaver), "ER," "The X-Files," "The Simpsons" and in the Eminem video, "The Real Slim Shady." 103.7 KISS-FM also welcomes to the show international dance-pop sensation Cascada, who had massive hit singles with "Everytime We Touch" and "Miracle". The host for the evening will be Chicago's favorite drag personality, Miss Foozie, and there will be a special performance by six-time HX Drag Queen of the Year Award-winner, Hedda Lettuce, who has appeared in the films Flawless (with Robert DeNiro) and To Wong Foo Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar (with Patrick Swayze and Wesley Snipes).

On Saturday, June 9th, Jammin' 98.3 welcomes the legendary Chaka Khan with supporting acts Benassi Bros. featuring Dhany, Sade Pendarvis and host Peppermint, who was recently crowned HX Drag Queen of the Year. Chaka Khan's stunning catalogue of hits both at the center of the band Rufus and as a solo artist includes "Tell Me Something Good," "Sweet Thing," "Everlasting Love," "AinŽt Nobody," "Through the Fire," "IŽm Every Woman," and the song that made Chaka Khan a household name the world over, "I Feel For You," written by long-time admirer and friend, Prince.

The weekend will round out with a headline performance by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts on Sunday, June 10th. Few artists boast a wider appeal than Joan Jett. She is beloved by gays, straights, punks, indie rockers, pop lovers, riot grrrls, metal heads, classic rockers, radicals and conservatives. Her world-wide hit, "I Love Rock N' Roll" is so influential that the National Endowment for the Arts has declared it one of the top 100 songs of the century. Jett has a string of other hits, including "Bad Reputation," "Crimson and Clover," "I Hate Myself for Loving You," "Do You Want To Touch Me (Oh Yeah)," and the brand new rocker, "ACDC" from her latest album, SINNER. Sunday's headline show will also feature multiple 2007 WAMI-nominee Ronnie Nyles and the Krash Band, comedian Vickie Shaw and the Boi Toiz and Gurl Toiz on Broadway. Nicki French, who has had world-wide dance hits, including "Total Eclipse of the Heart," will perform live in the Dance Pavilion Sunday evening.

More than 50 additional performers will be announced in coming weeks. More information about PrideFest is available at www.pridefest.com.
