Sunday, June 11: RAI

RAIRAI performs on the Miller Lite Mainstage on Sunday, June 11.

RAI has been in love with music since he was a child.  Many people thought he would end up being a dancer,  because he was such a natural.  Eventually, RAI learned to combine singing with dancing.

In high school, RAI joined the band and choir and performed in multiple musical productions.   Well-known for his solo numbers, he took his school to state competition for Solo Ensemble.  He won gold metals each year singing songs such as Motherless Child, Jesus Christ Superstar and Amarilli Mia Bella.

As an adult, RAI is an active member of my grandfather’s band, Ahvantsoul, which performs blues, jazz and funk.  He sings songs including Ain’t Nobody by Chaka Khan, Never Too Much by Luther Vandross and What Hurts the Most by Rascal Flatts.

While in the band, RAI realized he wanted to launch a solo career, using a stage name he created when he was only 13 years old.

“I came up with the name Dominator because I knew, in my heart, I would dominate the stage and the music world, with creativity and edginess, when given the chance,” said RAI.  “I am creating a band to make my ideas and vision a reality.  I cannot wait to present my love to the world!”
