Sunday, June 12: Jen Cintron

jen citronJen Cintron performs at the Wom!nz Spot on Sunday, June 12 at 4:00 p.m.

Jen Cintron was born and raised in Puerto Rico, but has lived in Milwaukee since 2003, and she’s thrilled to return to the Wom!nz Stage for the 4th year running!

A born torch singer, her style has been influenced by the crooners and chanteuses of decades past such as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Edith Piaf; but her influences and repertoire range from traditional mexican rancheras, through folk icons like Joni Mitchell and Silvio Rodriguez, all the way up to Imogen Heap and Fiona Apple, as well as her own heartfelt original songs.

Ranging from low and gravely smoke to pure and airy high tones, an exhuberant (and maybe somewhat tipsy) bandmate once described her voice as “the magnificent voice of the birds and the trees”.

She’s the vocalist for gypsy jazz band 4th Street Elevator, but on rare occasions she’ll bring out her guitar and ukulele for an intimate and moving solo performance, and this is one of them.
