Saturday, June 11: Chris Cox

Chris Cox

Saturday, June 11 10PM-Midnight

He’s got over 45 Billboard No. 1 hits. A Grammy nomination. Three WMC International Dance Music Awards. 10 mix compilations. Official remixes for Rihanna, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Daft Punk, Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson, and Madonna. Add to that collaborations with Perry Farrell, Pete Tong, Giorgio Moroder, and Avicii (among others). He’s Chris Cox and although you may not recognize his name, you most certainly recognize his work.

There’s no doubt that Chris Cox is one of the hardest-working DJ/producers in the business—you don’t have more than 600 releases, 4 million miles logged touring, and the respect of your peers without toiling away and constantly perfecting your craft. His studio energy extends into his DJ sets with a passion and fervor that makes Chris Cox your best friend on the dance floor with just the proper journey to make a night extraordinary.

Chris Cox’s foray into the world of electronic dance music began simply enough as a music major at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. His ears were piqued thanks to the college station, KUNV, gigs spinning at their parties and working with Ken Jordan of the Crystal Method. Following college came his discovery and mentorship by Academy Award winning music legend Giorgio Moroder. Chris Cox then helped create top-selling label Interhit Records, recipients of the first dance music Grammy. Don’t forget his genre-defining work under the hit-making moniker Thunderpuss. It’s been a whirlwind ever since as his travels have taken him from New York City to Tokyo, Paris to Sydney, Las Vegas to Miami, Rio de Janeiro to Beijing, and tour stops in other major city you can think of. As far as notable events? Some BIG ones like Lollapalooza, Coachella, White Party, Black & Blue, Rio Carnival, and the Grammys are on the DJ resume of Chris Cox. When companies like Pioneer, Apple, Roland, Native Instruments and Moog are looking to sponsor someone or have gear beta-tested, they come calling on Chris Cox.

Those aforementioned peers? “He’s a lovely and talented guy,” said BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong of Chris Cox. “Chris Cox [is] a great remixer, and a really good DJ,” Giorgio Moroder said. Not to mention that everywhere Chris Cox plays, he’s invited back.

For a sure-fire bet to work the dance floor into a high-energy groove, or finding the right flavor to make a track rise to the top, Chris Cox never disappoints. Plus, he’s just a really nice guy!
