BJ Daniels Revue reunites drag legends June 5

Performer-Announcement-Tiles-BJ-DanielsThe BJ Daniels Revue takes command of the Miller Lite Mainstage Friday, June 5 at 9:30 P.M.

This extravaganza of drag started with PrideFest in 1990 when the small gathering was held at Juneau Park, and then moved as the festival grew to Veteran’s Park.

By 1995, BJ had retired from performing just as PrideFest moved to the Summerfest Grounds. In 2013, both BJ and her revue were back to entertain new and old fans alike, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome them back this year.

The revue is a compendium of talented drag performers who have worked at one time or another alongside the legendary Daniels, who as part of the 80′s drag boom, played at all the major gay clubs in the state for over 13 years.

Each performer in the sassy revue brings something to the drag table, whether it’s camp, glamour high energy dancing, divalicious attitude or all of the above Along with Daniels and the stellar all star cast will be BJ’s fabulous back up dancers who help raise the bar of entertainment to a new level.  BJ is proud to be back at PrideFest and wants everyone who sees the revue to know how honored the cast will be to entertain you all once again at what has become one of the leading Pride festivals in the nation!

Shawna Love

Shawna Love has been a fixture on Milwaukee stages for over 20 years.  Known for her flamboyant figure, crazy style and over the top costumes, she now hosts the “Flashback Friday” show at Hamburger Mary’s Milwaukee, on the first Friday of the month.  She calls herself “the white trash Barbie of Milwaukee”, but in reality is a professional performer through and through.  Her far out antics cannot hide her commitment to making her audiences, smile, gasp, and stare at her two best assets, het talent and energy.  Did you think I was going to say something else?

Nova D’Vine was born through a bit of coaxing and a need for a creative outlet. “B.J. Daniels was one of the very first drag performers I ever saw on stage and my instant feeling was, I HAVE TO DO THAT” After years of doing drag in various forms, pageantry, a big dose of glamour, a dash of comedy, a ton of feathers, rhinestones and glitter, she is in the most comfortable part of her drag career. Seeing people smile and enjoying watching drag is what fuels her fire. “I am honored to be a part of this drag revue” You can see her performing from time to time at Hamburger Mary’s, also at LaCage/Montage Lounge on various Saturday nights currently representing the prelim title of Miss City of Festivals USofA and at her regular monthly show, “Bubbles and Beauties” the third Sunday of the month at Hybrid Lounge.

Lady Gia is a transgender woman and legendary showgirl in Milwaukee as well as throughout Midwest.  Her dancing ability, combined with her jaw dropping figure have taken her far.  Lady Gia is known not only for her stunning beauty, but her enormous talent, combined with the ability to bring an audience to their feet. Her fabulous performances have definitely earned her a spot in this sparkling Pridefest entertainment revue. BJ herself counts her as a gal pal and fellow “fishy queen”!

CaptureAfter graduating from St. Norbert College in 2011 she moved to Milwaukee and began working for Danceworks, Inc. It was there that she was exposed to the Milwaukee dance scene and started performing around the city. She was thrilled to be offered a role in the 2012 Run-up to the Runway performance, “All that Jazz”, starring BJ Daniels.   She has also been seen performing at the Milwaukee Film Festival’s opening night celebration, at private galas, and fundraisers. When she is not dancing, she is submerged in fashion, modeling and styling at Lela Boutique, or shaking up martinis at Clear Bar and Lounge.
